print out online quotes for the car you want and take them in. Also try http://www.broker4cars.co.uk as they have some good deals.

PERSONALLY i'd keep well clear of pugs or citroens their after care is REALLY bad, no to mention the build quality, worst cars on the road. imho.

Dont forget the auction where cash is king and yes you do get the full manufacturers warranty, just cut out sending the salesman to the Bahamas on your commission

There are a few C8 about to go through the auction in the next week or so, depends where you live? you certainly will save the cream off the top from buying new, this C8 is 5 months old ?

I would say say dont buy a C8, a good friend is a service advisor and she says dont but one. Ever. I dont know, but this is what she says. Look in a mag like What Car and look at the depriciation (?) figures and see how much money you will loose over the years. A New C4 MPV might be a much better bet. It will have a better re sale too.

However, I do think that Citreon after sales service can be very good.

Make sure the spec is right of what ever you buy, dont buy petrol, for example. Dont buy silver, its too popular and so yours will be one of many when sale time comes.

Don't buy a new car, as soon as you drive off the forecourt you've burned at least 4k (especially with a Citroen)...hardly moneysaving

This is only true if the car is still within the warranty period though.
  • Have a look at Motorpoint and other car supermarkets - selling six month old for £12-13k with under 10000 miles.
A fair few of these will be ex Citroen/Renault/Peugoet employees staff cars so will be well cared for. The car companies run lease schemes for staff that always them to make a 'sale' - but sell into the second hand market on the return of a short term lease, at reduced prices without losing credibility. The plus side is that the employees who lease on usually pretty good terms virtuallly bring the car back as new - since otherwise penalised heavily for bumps, cleaning etc.

I would agreed that if you have money to burn buy new and lose £5-6k and look at depreciation rates - probably Espace is one of the better models for holding its value.
  • I used this site in March of this year and saved loads. They put you in touch with a dealer who will match the price quoted for a new car

agreed dont but a new car - get one with delivery miles - you save a quite a few quid

We got a Hyundai a couple of years ago - best car weve ever had - 5 years warrenty, loads of extras as standard that you have to pay for in another model, They gave a great price for trade in. I would say shop from dealer to dealer when you decide which car to buy,as they are always trying to hit the monthly targets. We also got a 3 year service agreement which is much cheaper than buying it year to year. Ask about this, they dont push them, the price for this varied from dealer to dealer.
Got to say the Hyundai service is excellant - takes about an hour and they do everything - OH marked all brake drums, filters etc just to make sure they took them off and he was well impressed.

Decide on the model you want then shop around we got about £4,000 knocked off an aready discounted car by comparing dealers and bartering.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T
