WARNING DIXONS not taking returns / exchange

Hi,
I bought a dishwasher from Dixons. It was damaged. I asked for replacement. After issues they agreed to exchange the dishwasher on 31/05.
However I didn't heard anything from them. I am calling them on daily basis they are saying that their system is down and they cannot exchange or collect any good it is being dealt by head office. Everytime I asked them that I need a callback from the team dealing with the case they promised but no one calls me back.
This morning when I called them up , I said why don't you send me a letter / email explaining the issue and any timeline. The lady was very rude she said no they will not phone / mail me.
I insisted to speak to her supervisor, she said Manager is busy and will contact me when he is free.
I think this is alarming.
1) Not able to collect / exchange goods.
2) Not bother to contact not even apologies.
Could this be a sign of cash flow problem? Could it be something else.
I can understand companies do have issue with their IT system but such irresponsile behaviour towards customer for over a week is not acceptable.
I thought to ward fellow MSE and if you can think of anything please let me know

I wholly agree, this is nothing new with Dixons. However, the OP's title is misleading - they have not stopped accepting returns generally, but rather they have messed up in his case.
OP, have you had a call back yet?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I agree as well - they lost our washing machine when it went in for repair and we never saw it again. How on earth do you lose a washing machine?!!! It took ages and a letter from Trading Standards to get a new one out of them. I've never shopped at Dixons or Currys since.0 -

I thought it was company policy to not accept returns and try to make the customer take up any problems with the manufacturer. I stopped buying from them years ago because of this policy.

James.
Yes, they have tried this one for years. However the customer purchases the item from the retailer in these cases & not the manafacturer.
Even Currys or Dixons can't rewrite the law.
I wont buy from them since Currys told me you cannot return an item if if breaks down after 14 days, they even had a notice up stating this.
You would get better service from a market trader.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
Hi guys,
Thanks for your support.
I have not heard anything from them.
I will call them again tomorrow and contact trading standards as well.
Does anyone knows their mail / fax number.
I hate company who wants to sell on internet but when it comes to correspondence they do only by post.
