Switching when in debit

Hi I'm thinking of switching my gas & elec but am currently in debit with my supplier. Just following the general cycle of using more in winter so going into debit then using less in summer but paying to catch up. If I switch will I have to clear the debits or will the new supplier take on the debit balances?

I am keen to switch asap given the publicised increases in store for the coming winter! But if I have to clear the debits in full on switching then that is quite a cashflow hit all in one go.

Can anyone help?

No, you have to clear when you leave the existing supplier. It's the supply you switch, not the debit/credit.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
