I also fell for this covert advertising. So it seems that someone who has posted only 5 times in four years pops up to defend Tim Deegan. In fact 40% of chocky909's posts have been on mattresses!0

I just wanted to know what happened, that's all. Yes I don't generally use this forum often and I only came across it when I was looking for a new bed. I only searched again because another site was asking about good beds and I wanted to reread some of that big thread. If my low post count devalues my opinion for some people then that's fine.
I took a lot of what Tim said at face value but I read a lot of arguments in that thread and his reasoning always stood up and every customer of his or La Romantica raved about the quality.
Unfortunately I have no way of proving whether his advice is sound or not without spending years sleeping on all makes of bed. I think that's why his advice was so welcome by some and made others so suspicious.0 -
I'm another one who bought the Venice KS. Whatever Tim's input, I have to say I love the bed. It is by far the most comfortable and most supportive bed I have ever slept on.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I really don't understand what you're getting at. I've only posted 4 times before these 3 posts and on only 2 subjects - twice as many as you! I did however read the whole 200 pages or so of that mattress megathread so I think I've got a good understanding of the whole debacle. I think it's very silly to accuse me of being a friend of Tim's come here to defend him. I even said it was understandable why he had to be 'banned'. I just don't see how that decision would negate everything he ever posted.0 -

The point I am making is that I have also read a lot of these mattress threads - start to finish and you fit the profile of the type of poster that normally pops along to defend him. Made only a handful of posts about beds and your other posts are mainly one liners. The guy seemed to use this site for marketing - promoting a specification of mattress that he was the main retailer for. I am only surprised it took this site so long to ban him - this site should be seen to be impartial and offering the best consumer advice - he most certainly was not.0 -

The Forum Rules state:
Why are people banned (PPR'd)?
We don't remove people's posting privileges (PPR or ban) lightly. No one pays anything to use this site; and our first consideration must be towards protecting it from increased cost and legal challenge (although on mainstream issues of consumers rights we may choose to take battles on). Posting on MoneySavingExpert.com is a privilege not a right. We can refuse permission to post without giving a reason.
In the past, we tried hard not to PPR long-standing forum users. Sadly, we had so many issues taking time away from our core MoneySaving work, that protection had to go. Now, if someone's persistently causing trouble, they're PPR'd. If they are please do not discuss them. It's unfair to do this when they aren't able to respond.
Please note the section I've highlighted in red above.
There is also the 'Mattress threads' sticky thread on the 'Shop but don't drop' board, by the MSE Forum Manager.
