Unpaid Redundancy Compensation

Hi,
My former employer informed me in writing that my redundancy compensation would be paid no later than the 1st April, to date it has still not been paid.
Despite numerous emails and phone calls I'm still looking at another 10 working days before the money is paid.
In the meantime, I have been unable to pay all the bills over the past 3 months and have been relying on credit card and over draft, which are now maxed out, some bills have been passed to debt collectors, who are now after the money.
Is there anything I can do, my former employer has made mistake after mistake which is costing me a fortune!

When were you made redundant? I ask because they may well be dragging it out until after the 3 month period in which to bring a claim in ET. By the sounds of things you are getting close. If, for example, your 3 months are up at the end of June, I would write now stating that if payment is not made within 5 working days then you will submit an application to ET. I would also state that as they have withheld monies that they said they would pay in April you have incurred costs and would expect them to pay.0
