    Hi,

    I bought a new amp and speaker system (Onkyo 5405). For one of the rear speakers, the length of wire was falling short. I had some extra speaker cable, so joined the two and extended the lead.

    Now, after two days, the speakers are making a clicking noise each time I change the channel/play or pause from sky+ box. Richer sounds is saying that I may have damaged the amp by joing the cable. Is that true or they are just taking me for a ride?

    Thanks
    Vikram

    Good customer service, John. Mind you, I have never had a problem with RS and I have bought many (too many) things there.

    Is it just the rears that are 'clicking' or all of them?

    All of them, not just the rears.

    Hi ,
    I bought this a week ago, and i think the clicking is normal as i have it too, i have not touched my speakers
    I get it sometimes not always from the front 2 speakers when i am changing channel
    I read online that it is because of re-adjustment of signal

    have a look at this forum;

    BTW Richer Sounds dont know everything..they are selling this as 85 wstts per channel, when its actually 100 watts.
    I really dont think extending the speaker wire would cause problems.

    How about finding the oxygen thief who you employ who told them that extending speaker wires killed the amp and firing the useless turd?

    Really impressed with Richer Sounds CS. They spoke to me and agreed to replace my faulty system with a *new* one :)

    Thanks to everyone for your answers.

    Yes, I read about those clicking when system readjusts something. But in my case, even after setting the sound mode did not stop that noise. Doing a play/pause also results in the same noise, so its definitely something wrong with the system.
