Rent reduction, Utilities whilst work is being done on Rented accommodation

Hi,

My landlord is carrying out Damp Proof work on our Rented accommodation and will be reinbursing us for the equivalent of our rent per day so we are moving our stuff out of the flat and staying with friends.

What would people suggest arranging around things like electricity used whilst we are out of the property and work is being done?

Thanks

Are you moving out because the property will be uninhabitable, or just because you prefer to?

Will the works be done from outside or inside too? Will utilities be used by the workmen? How long will this take?

If just wall injection outside, or a day or two, the amount of utility use is probobly not worth arguing over.

If the workmen will be inside for two weeks using leccy, ask for a contribution. If you have a friendly relationship with your LL, just have a chat and see what he says, then confirm in writing. If not, just write and ask - be aware the LL might view this as troublesome and decide not to renew your tenancy when it expires.
