Hope someone can help as I'm a little worried about not having virus protection. I've had AVG free for years, but then it wouldn't update anymore, and now it says no active components and is not working at all. Tried and tried to uninstall it but it won't flippen shift. :( Tried downloading it again to see if that would repair the original programme but it sits in my downloads and won't run. Help!

    Hi
You might want to try this program to uninstall. Make sure you get the freeware version. AVG has been giving some people problems. I dumped it and now use Avast free anti-virus. Does the job for me. :-)

Use Appremover ( www.appremover.com ) to completely remove the above security software . Afterwards, run the "check for failed uninstall" option to make sure all remnants are gone

Id be looking at if your computers infected too if I were you

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

Thanks guys, downloaded the first programme and it got rid of it. Have now put on Avast. :)

Oh and I'd already run Malwarebytes to check it and it was clear. X
