Eon - Credit or Not?????

Yesterday I recieved a statement from Eon for my prepayment electric meter which when I looked onto the first page it stated I was in credit of £968.17, which I couldn't understand as I am on a prepayment meter. It puzzled me for the rest of the day, so today I thought i'll give them a call and ask them to explain it for me.
The lady I got thorugh to immediatly said there is no way I can be in credit at all if I am on a meter, so she will have to go away for around half an hour to go through it all and if there is any credit it can get sent back to me, so she'll give me a call back soon.
Around an hour later she calls back and say's "Sorry but there has been a billing mistake and that i'm not in credit at all as the readings have been sent or collected back incorrectly and that my day and night readings are the wrong way round and that's how it's come to be in so much credit"
In the end after going over it again and again she says it will be calculated again and a new statement will be sent out in 3 WEEKS time, in which my reaction was you can tell me i'm not in credit but you don't know at this present time what my actual balance should be then? Answer: No, not until a new statement is sent.
Obviuously this going straight over my head because as far as I could see that credit must have come from somewhere?
Has happened to anybody else at all, I would be very intrested to hear your outcome.
