Announced hikes for Scottish Power: Am I cheaper staying on standard?

I have just moved house which is Scottish Power. After being on the phone at length I was asked if I wanted to go on their fixed deal called Unifee. I've looked at the prices between Unifee and Standard but still think I'd be cheaper on Standard, even after prices are raised 19% for gas and 10% electricity:
Today
Unifee
Electricity
Daily 28.63
Unit 11.65
Gas
Daily 38.13
Unit 2.908
Standard
Electricity
Daily 14.27
Unit 11.65
Gas
Daily 23.77
Unit 2.908
I am assuming that the hike only applies to unit prices? If anyone can tell me I'm wrong here I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Yes, you may be cheaper on Standard now, a fixed tariff is always more expensive. What you are paying for is insurance against a further rise in Standard that may make Fixed cheaper over the whole term.
Only you can decide if that is what you want.No free lunch, and no free laptop

No, the hikes are usually distributed over both parts and standing charges will be included.
eletricity daily standing charges are going up to between 26p and 32p depending on region and gas standing charge to 36 odd p.
£244 per year standing charges - and that is what Ofgem is wanting to force on everyone!
Edit: as far as I can see the new standard tariff prices come August will be approximately the same as you are paying now on the fixed one. When does the Unifee fix end?0 -
The tariff is called Online Unifi Capped, and it lasts until april 2013. You also get a free energy monitoring system with it, quite an advanced one at that, free of charge. £50 cancellation fee ofc.
In my opinion its a no brainer...the capped > the standard by miles.
EDIT: They have another tariff thats capped for 2 years also, without the monitoring system. But theres not much of a price difference...well in my area there isnt.0 -
Thanks everyone. If it looks like I am paying the same (after the hikes) as the unifee prices now I think I may was well go for the fixed. And at least I get the energy monitor equipment too. Thanks for all your help
