EDF/Sainsbury's Energy Online Saver Version 6

Hi all, I would appreciate some advice.

I signed up with Sainsbury's Enery as above in August 2010 on a year's contract, primarily as it was a good deal and I would also get Nectar points. In February 2011 EDF, Sainsbury's and Nectar parted company, so I started looking around for another deal, and in April 2011 I signed up with M&S Energy. EDF have charged me £50 (dual fual) early termination fee. I think this is wrong and unfair, as they changed their contract with me before I broke mine with them. I signed with Sainsbury's, not EDF and all the correspondence I have from them is from Sainsbury's Energy, not EDF. EDF don't agree; is it worth fighting them?
Yours hopefully,
Patty

You should have received a letter informing you of the switch; but both the original Sainsburys tarrif and then the EDF tarrif had early termination fees

Doesnt matter if you signed with EDF or Sainsburys. What has Nectar points got to do with anything. They were an added bonus to what was essentially the cheapest online variable account at the time. I know because Im on it.

To cancel your package and move to another supplier because they pulled what probably amounts to less than £20 worth of points per year is pure madness.

You say they broke their contract? Where does it say in your energy contract that they have to provide Nectar points? Im looking at mine and the T&Cs dont mention nothing.

Nectar points are nice but I dont base my energy supplier on bonus offers. For that reason Im staying with EDF for another year and not moving to British Gas who now have the Nectar offer.

You signed up to Southern's standard prices (which will be £150+ a year more than the tariff you were on) because EDF took away £20 worth of nectar points? You deserve to be fined!!!
