Good to see the Branston beans on offer again. They're much better than Heinz. I've found the Heinz ones have really runny sauce, whereas the Branston beans have a nice thick sauce. Better flavour too.

I'm down to my last 4 pack, so I'll go and stock up.
  • Agree - Branstons Beans are the best! I'll be stocking up on them this weekend, my supply has now dwindled to the last couple of tins...!

    Thanks OP.

The cranberry juice is also available in classic and light.

Beware Beware lots of problomatic plums in the country at moment !
We are at the end of Chilean/Australian/South African and they will be dry eating even internal problems !
New Season Spanish will be ok but low on sugars :eek:and will not be 69p for 500 gms so pretty certain the product will be old crop Southern hemisphere !
    AVOID I would say.

Plums are Spanish and I bought a pack and to be fair tasted that good I went back in and bought 2 more packs :D
Very good eating quality and highly recommend :T

I've only tried these twice, and both times when I opened the can they smelled of antiseptic, and pretty much the same to eat.

In fact, both times I threw the other 3 cans away it was that bad.

I know some people like this flavour, Islay whiskeys, fisherman's friends (after they have had a shower obviously) but not me.

So, can anyone tell me if this is still the case, or maybe the taste has changed.

    Thanks

Dont know if they are the same but I just buy any beans on special offer and drain off the sugary sauce they supply this is usually easy because the sauce is at top of tin - add a dollop of tomato puree (always in fridge) and teaspoon of butter and black pepper (sprinkle with a little lo-salt when serving) - much better mediteranean tasting beans IMO love em.

  • Just had my bargainous lunch which all came from Lidl, the Branston beans were gorgeous and you were all right, much better than Heinz - much less sweet. My partner loved them, too. I had them on a baked potato that was from a 7.5 kilo bag which Lidl was selling for £2.79 - bargain. And then dessert was a couple of Spanish plums. Gorgeous and all free on Slimming World!

The plum thing got me thinking - is there a website that says which fruit is best from which country at which times of year does anyone know? I had no idea that southern hemisphere plums were a no-go at the moment and I bet there are loads of other things like that I should be looking out for.
