:j my boyfriend and I are going to Venice during my 31st birthday between 30 July-2 August. If any of you have hotel friend&family discount/ discount code or know a good deal, please share.. I will be very thankful!!!
I would love somewhere not expensive but easy transport. So, I can spend more on nice foods!!!

Have been to Venice several times and we always stay in Mestre on the mainland as its cheaper than staying in Venice itself.
We stay at Hotel Vivit which is in the main square and they quite often have special offers on. Mestre is a lovely little industrial town and has a lovely market and some excellent shops.
Venice is a short bus ride away and costs about 1 euro. From the bus station it is a short walk to the main tourist attractions of Venice. I actually prefer this as you get to see a different side away from the masses of tourists.
Hope this helps, enjoy your trip it really is wonderful! Ohhh and one last tip - if you want to go on a gondola try and get one away from the main tourist spots as they are cheaper:smileyheaGot married in beautiful Sorrento 11th May 2010:smileyhea0 -
everything gets cheaper the furth from st marcos square you get! infact some prices HALF just on the next alley! just be careful where you rock up and order a drink, we got stung for 3 pints at 8 euros EACH!0

Allogi Barbaria is a really nice B&B in the Castello district. Simple but very clean and easy to get to. Highly recommended.0

Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo
I'm not sure of your budget but this is a wonderful, small hotel in Venice away from the tourist hotspots which regularly gets voted the No 1 on Tripadvisor and for good reason.
I stayed there a couple of years ago - I can't remember the price but it didn't seem outrageous for Venice.0 -

We stayed at the Hotel American Dinesen in one of the Dependance apartments when we were there last July. Would recommend. They are currently no 24 on Tripadvisor.0

I'll third the Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo - fabulous hotel, we booked after reading TA reviews and were not disappointed.
The rooms are really 'Venetian', the staff are lovely, and the breakfast (although small) is TDF (if you book, try the apricot croissants and hot chocolate!) I should mention that it is just 5mins from the Rialto, but we found everywhere in Venice quite walkable!

There is a lovely (and reasonable!) fish/seafood restaurant nearby in the square where the fish market is (as you are walking to the Rialto from the hotel). Again, really reasonable prices for Venice and very fresh seafood.
Last off topic tip, try and book the Doge Palace Secret Itinerary Tour. We thought it was extremely interesting, as the guide takes your small group where the public are not allowed to go normally (you also get to see the cell Casanova escaped from!)
