property management: mandate for payment

hiya,
I got a mandate from property management for some work that someone else requested to be done.It asked me to send remittance with the mandate form.
I have decided that I will agree to this work.
However, as a matter of prinicipal, I don't want my money sitting in their bank until the work is done. Can I get them to provide a rough date of the work then send them a post- dated cheque?
When I pay the current bill, they will already have £100 of mine in the bank for the "common pool"
ta for any help :-)

I would imagine that the service charge (and this fund belong to leaseholders no-one else) has its own account via the managing agent so any monies earned on interest would go back into that service charge account but I would think it reasonable for you to request when works are planned for before you pay up. Under the terms of the lease it may not be allowed for you to make interest on any monies held in the service charge account, ie sinking fund, especially if your freeholder also manages the building.I love this site :beer:0
