Slightly O/T - T Mobile charges

Hi Guys,
I originally posted inthe Mobile Phones section but it was suggested that I may get further help in here......
Hope you can help - I had an 18 month contract with T-Mobile which I cancelled. The final payment was to come from my old current account which got closed as part of my DMP. Needless to say the Direct debit bounced.
I got a final bill from T-Mobile for the balance of contract AND £23-50 charge for direct debit bouncing. I paid the call charges in full leaving the £23-50 outstanding - although the payment was late.
Got a 28 day letter today from a debt collection agency chasing the £23-50 - I rang them immediately to explain the situation to receive abuse and threats from their end about what they'd do if I didn't pay within 7 days. They were after my works mobile number and works details etc...
Question is - do I have to pay this amount - I've paid of all my charges on the contract, the £23-50 came about as my old account was closed and hence the bounced DD...?
Hope you can help as I'd love to get one over the abusive, self righteous cow that I spoke to at the debt collection agency.
Thanks for any advice.
