A few car insurance questions...

My job role is changing and it will require me to use my mams car a lot more often and become the main driver. I've been a named driver on her insurance since I passed my test in 2006, and the car isn't used a great deal by either of us as it is, so changing the car to my name seems logical (and legal!), but i'll also have to get business insurance for work too as I may have to drive people.

My questions arrre:

Does the car have to be tranferred to my name in order for me to be main driver and have business insurance?

Does anyone know roughly how much is would be to change the car over to my name?

Can the named driver have business class use as well as the main driver (or is it only if it's related to the main driver's work)?

I'm prepared for a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge hike in premiums and will try for some quotes in a bit, but our insurance isn't up for renewal until January so I assume we'll have to stick to Aviva till then and just change the policy.

i have always had my own car and insurance but have always been a named driver on oh car insurance and been insured for business use on it (just incase my own car was off the road)to change ownership would just entail sending log book off with change of ownership free of charge to dvla.

No.

There would be no direct charge, but this would add an extra keeper onto your car's log book which might affect its resale value.

Any or all drivers can have business use irrespective of who is the main driver.

A lot of policies will be cheaper if you limit business use to the main driver, and others cover main driver and spouse.
While it can be for any driver, it's usually at a premium, and not every insurer will quote for this.
