converting halogen light bulbs

We have 12 halogen spot lights in our bathroom & kitchen. They get very hot in the bathroom and we want to put in LED bulbs instead. But we have been quoted £100's to convert and put in replacement transformers. As it is a new property i'm reluctant to spent such money. Can anyone help?

why not just change the bulbs for led ones , for example a gu10 bulb 50w can be changed for a (for example) 78led one for about £5 or less (see ebay) or the newer type of smd led bulbs are brighter and run at only 1-3 watts of power.
i changed all my gu10 and edison screw spots to led and smd and have saved over £200 in leccy over the last 12 months ebay (use uk sellers) is proberly your best bet

dont do it they give off enough light and make you house feel cheap
just get low voltage ones
anyway youll only be saving about 50 quid a year,..
whats that a pound a week?

I think you are confusing with your post Orange 44. I read to mean you Have 12 volt MR16 bulbs fitted and you want to change them to 12 volt LED equivalents, but this means changing the transformers. Am I correct ?
