OH wants photo printer for Xmas: which one should Santa buy?

OH wants a photo printer, preferably that does 5 x 7 as well as 4 x 6.
Must give good quality prints (colour mostly but the ability to print b&w occasionally). Card reader, compatible with PC and mac preferred.
Also one that it's easy and not too expensive to get cartridges for.
Price - not over £100, preferably well less, but no false economies.
Normally a Canon person, but Amazon have an Epson that has good reviews (a 2005 machine). Would prefer a smallish one, rather than a general printer/scanner/copier that does photos too. Plus very NB must be easy to set up and use.
Can anyone recommend a product please as Santa here is going to have to move fast to get it before Xmas.

I would recommend the Canon PIXMA ip4300. Just had one and the picture quality is amazing. It can also automatically print both sides of the paper when printing mails etc. Was about £57.00 from Amazon0

Don't think the ip4300 has a card reader (?). Do any of the good Canon photo printers have one?
Otherwise have never used pictbridge, do you just plug your camera into the printer?
how do we print from a mobile's memory card or must we download to PC first?
sorry about the qs but want to order online & the reviews are patchy.0 -
Please help. Need to find one that can read both SD (camera) and Sony memory stick duo (mobile) cards as PC photo software is dodgy.0

The Epson R320 does ticks all your requirements however it is at the upper end of your budget, £90-£100 and is rather on the large side. Other than that its everything you want it to be and the print quality is outstanding0

I find the running cost of these things can be very high, my photo quality epson printer seems to run out of ink all the time and I don't actually print photos on it! It may work out cheaper to use an online printing company, or your local asda/tesco etc (unless there are things you don't want printing by someone else!).0

Another happy Canon owner here (IP4000). In general the price of the (genuine) consumables I find to be better than epson. I only print out a small number of the photos I take and would always copy them from the camera onto the PC to look at them in detail first, so the facility to print straight from a card is not one I'd ever use.
I hope that helps

Consumables' price is a big factor. I didn't think I needed a card reader (my pc doesn't have one) until I actually used one and it's so much easier and quicker.
No dodgy photos (!) but don't know anywhere nr here with a photocard machine. I would prefer to print them at home. Plus my PC's photo software is mangled due to different cameras. Right now I am looking for over 50 'lost' photos from my old camera....
OH has said Santa can visit during the sales :-)
Where's a good place to have a look during the sales or would it still be cheaper to order online?
cheers.0
