Warning: Pixmania account details appear to have been stolen!

Received an email to an email address only used for registering at Pixmania. The email details my full name, first name and surname, which was not in the address. I can only surmise Pixmania account details have been stolen, as that's the only way they would have my full name. Tried contacting Pixmania but contact links keep taking me to their "Pixplace" website.

As they have my full name, if card details are not fully encrypted on the Pixmania database, or it has been compromised, I would keep an eye on your statements in case if you have had a card registered on their site.

They probably outsource their mailing database and that has been compromised, well hopefully anyway. That should only store E-Mail, Name and Mailing preferences. It happened to a company called Epsilon a while back who provide email services for companies like Marks and Spencer and Marriot Hotels plus lots of big American companies. It could be that the Pixmania database was part of this breach and it has only started to be used, most companies warned customers that it had happened. I wouldn't put it past DSG (Dixons) who own Pixmania though to just try and sweep it under the carpet.

I just "applied" for the job with some fake details and an email address setup specifically for it. Might be interesting to see how it progresses. I am guessing it won't be any more exciting than "congratulations, we selected you for the job" and "please pay this by Western Union" or "cash this cheque and return the change" etc.

I've just had the same piece of junk email sent to the account that I ONLY ever use for purchases from Amazon. I'm guessing it's one of their marketplace sellers that has been compromised rather than Amazon themselves.

Looks like your average bogus "payment processing job scam".

We are searching for people to process payments coming from our clients. Our company will provide an agent with detailed instructions according to the payment processing operations including sender full name and amount total for each separate order. As soon as funds enter employee's bank account Regional agent's duty is to withdraw cash and transfer funds via International Wire Transfer or Western Union/Money Gram money transfer systems. The main advantage of our services is the shortest possible time within which the seller can receive money for the services sold. If this operation is delayed, our clients are entitled to cancel their contract with us and we suffer a financial loss. Therefore, successful applicant must be very responsible and careful.
