Hi everyone
I bought an item off ebay (buy it now) on the 29th of April, part of the item then broke roughly 4 weeks after I'd paid for it. I messaged the seller asking if there was anything they could do and they offered to replace the part at cost. I responded after a bit of research and basically asked if there was any way the part could be given free as it hadn't lasted a reasonable length of time which suggested it was faulty. They responded with:
'you must understand i am giving you the clip at cost price i am not making anything on the clip so i am not benefiting in any way just trying to help, i am sorry about this, the product was purchased well over 3 weeks ago and had a return policy of 7 days.'
I'm not too sure what to respond with now, I don't particularly want to pay for a replacement part as it should've lasted longer? Anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks!

You can open a SNAD claim for up to 45 days through paypal.
As they sound like a business seller, they deserve it if their products only last 4 weeks.
The 7 days return is not a reasonable t&c, the sale of goods and dsr override this.0 -
Yep, 7 days is for returning non-faulty items.
Yours is faulty - so bang a claim in quickly before its too late.0 -
Thanks
I opened a case last night, so we'll see what happens! 0 -
Well done for opening a case! I think their response is really cheeky given they're clearly a business seller!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
What was the item you bought? How did it break?
I always wonder why people seem keen to omit even basic details.0 -
It was a SPF 50 Parasol for my Pram, it was the Universal clip that shattered on it's second voyage, first the bottom part of the clip fell off then a breeze swayed the Parasol slightly and it broke the rest of the clip, didn't make for a very fun treck in the sunshine!0
