Sorry easyhost, I missed you saying that.

But I do think (no disrespect to yourself and your suggestion) if they are looking for a serverside WYSIWYG builder, then there might be easier options than Dreamweaver.

dreamweaver was just an example and yes their are better and easier options.

i still use frontpage 2007 (yes its dated) but still does the job. also if you get a good host they will have rvsitebuilder or trendy site builder.

also as Steve 1980 says if you can afford it get a site professionally made. their is also some good free templates if you have time to look.. i have 2 sites that are using templates from themeforest and they look professional

Depends a lot on how much HTML experience you have and how sophisticated you want your site to be. I use Site Spinner Pro which allows you to create your site as building blocks of words and pictures, so no HTML knowledge needed. Also they have a very good and responsive help forum. Your girlfriend could even do it herself with this. www.sitespinnerpro.com Forget price but it is very cheap as well as cheerful.

$49 to buy, but if you take hosting say £3 a month you will most likely have rvsitebuilder free within cpanel.
  • My sis in law runs a swimming school and built her site on a business directory that lets small businesses build/host free websites. She's non-techy so it can't be hard :) She built a site called duxforddolphins using it.

I think its a bit of a hybrid business directory and website builder but more aimed for consumers researching businesses (tradesmen etc). Ratings and all that stuff. It's free so worth a look I guess. myProSpot[dot]com

I understand that a website once built needs hosting, but Moonfruit's free package includes 20MB storage (1 website, 15 pages) which is more than enough for what I want.

I agree that a Moonfruit address looks unprofessional, but surely a proper .co.uk domain can just be pointed at the Moonfruit address? I don't know if that is possible from 123-reg, but if not the domain can be paid for through Moonfruit for £5.49 a year so I could transfer it if need be.

With Moonfruit, they post their logo on the site to which you have no control over (I think). 20mb is not alot of space once you start adding pictures etc.

you can point a domain through 123-reg using the web forwarding feature chose the permanent option

apart from them offering 20MB and 15 pages, what other features do you get.

    ftp, email, cgi etc.

Can anyone confirm about the logo? Their link on Google says "no ads, no catches".

20MB is ample for us, as we only want a once page site of text to advertise some basic services.

Has anyone built a Moonfruit site and if so could they post the link so I can see how it looks?

Nothing else. That's all. You don't get anything extra unless you pay £72.00!
