PPI claim back to year 2000? or even 1995??

Hi everyone,
I have some paperwork from a loan taken out from Lloyds in 2000, it was from a face to face meeting in the branch, and I remember specifically being told I couldn't have the loan if I didn't take out PPI. I was also sold, during the same meeting, personal overdraft protection, otherwise I couldn't have an overdraft facility. I don't remotely remember being asked if I had a medical condition, despite being diagnosed in 1996 with an ongoing condition which would have severely curtailed my ability to claim, and which affects me to this day.
Even further back, in 1995, the same branch of Lloyds told me I could only have a Mastercard credit card if I took out PPI. I paid this until I fell in to arrears on the card 2 years ago and entered in to a DMP via CCCS, and then cancelled the policy. I was allowed to make a claim on the policy for prior periods of sick leave before I cancelled it, not because my medical condition met the terms of the policy, but because I'd been paying it for so long.
I'm considering making a claim/complaint about all three policies, but from what I hear, claims are being considered only going back 6 years. However, I get the impression that some of the worst mis-selling excesses took place earlier than that.
I'm thinking I should fill out the FOS questionnaire regardless and see what happens, but it would be useful to know if anyone else has made a claim going back further than 6 years, and what happened as a result.
And are people filling out a separate questionnaire per policy?
Thanks!
BL

Hi there, people have had success with mis sell from the 90s i think it depends on who the bank is to be honest.
Look here for reasons for mis sell and if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

You can phone Lloyds with the account numbers for all 3 and see if they take the claims over the phone.
If you fill the form in, i would do 3 as they are 3 seperate items.
Just to let you know the Mastercard, if you win, the refund will be taken off the card balance.0 -
Thanks Amersall for the useful advice!
I've read through the MSE advice already and on that basis I definitely think I have grounds for a claim. Knowing how utterly !!!! Lloyds are on the phone (I've lost count of the hours spent trying to talk sense with someone over the years), I think I'll do the whole thing in writing. At least then I'll have hard evidence of what I've said!
If the Mastercard claim wins, that would be amusing as I'm paying the balance off slowly via the DMP. For all I know I could end up in credit and they'll owe ME money! know that would be quite satisfying :-)
thanks again.0 -
Hi there
As amersall says.
Also if you go directly on Lloyds Website they have details on the procedures of reclaiming PPI as well, although its the same questionnaire, but the address/contact details are enclosed too.
The best of luck.

Hi, don't know if this helps, but I've just had my claim upheld against Black Horse, part of the lloyds group. The loan was dated 2003.
They told me that my claim did not fall under the FOS, but the FLA - however I had completed to FOS questionaire on this site and sent with a covering letter.
Good luck - hopefully you'll get a result.0 -
thanks everyone, I'll let you know how I get on! time to join the v long queue @LLoyds (I do hope they've taken on extra staff to cope, but I suspect not, lol)0

Just to let you know I've just had my PPi upheld with lloyds from 2000 and mine the same face to face meeting, so am now just about to try from 1997 as well as my overdraft insurance that I had for about 11 years with them.Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0

Hi there,
it's taken me a while as March to August is manic at work, but I've dug out yet more paperwork and I've filled out the standard FOS questionnaires for 4 PPI's (one credit card, one overdraft and 2 loans) - all with Lloyds. So it's all gone off in the post, and I'll wait and see. One PPI dates all the way back to 1995, but I thought what the hell, doesn't matter about the date, the point of the argument was that the account manager refused to give me a credit card unless I took out PPI, even though my credit rating was good for the limit they were setting. I paid a monthly premium on THAT until I cut the damn thing up 3 years ago.
so, we shall see...like they say, 'you've got to be in it to win it'!0
