Paint Brush or Paint Spray

Options
Just a quick query I am in the process of purchasing a house but requires some amount of re-work one of which is painting the walls ( bedrooms, living and dining room, etc ).

I was wondering are paint sprays any good such as this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7111095.htm

Does it provide equivalent quality of work compared to a paint brush? Anyone with past experience in using paint sprays? I'm sure its possibly quicker but uses a lot more paint. If I was doing up the whole house I would prefer it being a quick and painless but also of good quality.

Thanks for your responses.

  • I have the £60 version. Like a vacuum cleaner but blows through what is a HVLP gun.

Highly recommended, all results are user dependant though. You must thin the paint correctly and ensure gun is adjusted correctly, easy really.

I resprayed an entire car in cellulose paint, you would not know I did it, saved £1000's.

edit : Its accurate, non messy, an absolutely fantastic tool - but I must repeat only in the hands of someone who knows how to spray, but this can be learnt quickly : get the viscosity correct (thickness of paint), spray thinly and squarely to the surface horizontally, then vertically, the smoothness of the sprayed surface dictates the finish, not the paint.

Best thing is because its HVLP (high volume low pressure) you don't get the choking over-spray associated with convential air guns.

clean the gun well after use!

  • Thanks for the response. I guess your right its good to have someone who knows how to spray. Its given me a little confident in the product. Weren't sure if they were any good
  • Its no big deal for emulsion/gloss.

Never seen a house with a car-like paint finish.

You'll do fine, practice on a piece of board.

you could also save £40 and buy the 3000 version I have (£60) but you can only use a small quantity of paint at a time (but theres less to clean up).

    give it a go...
