I use pure coconut oil for my face and body. It is easily absorbed and doesn't leave the skin coated like some chemical moisturizers do.

The Superdrug vitamin e range is very good, as in simple almond oil, however do you exfoliate regularly? In middle age myself, :o the benefits of exfoliating frequently are dawning on me.

Every other night in the shower, a handful of table salt and a splosh of oil does the job economically and effectively. It removes the dead surface skin and the skin revealed is far fresher and more receptive to moisturiser.

Bronnie, try sugar instead of salt, much less harsh on the skin:)
Thank you for this site Martin

The most effective (and cost effective) product I've found is Aqueous Cream. You get 500g for £1 - £2, depending on where you shop. I also like jojoba oil and I'm finding it suits my skin even better these days but that's only because I have hyperhidrosis.

Hi, I do have the little exfoliating gloves that I use every time in the shower or bath and Dove pro age body wash.

Hi tiger, many thanks but I was actually looking for an alternative to aqueous cream as its not helping and Ive found it can actually dry your skin out if used for a long time.

Or make your own. The initial outlay will be expensive but then you will have a quality product. I use a mixture of shea butter, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, rosehip seed oil, essential oils etc.

    Regards

my mum swears by body shop olive body butter. Its £12.50 BUT if you buy the butter you get the scrub for free AND there is a 50% off code on here too..so instead of £25 for both it is £6.25:eek::eek::eek:

I have ordered loads for mum today - 4 of each lol. SO instead of £100 or so it has cost £25 (free delivery too i believe!) You can only order 1 per transaction of the special offer but i was ordering quite a lot so i split them over a few orders :)
  • I swear by Cocoa Butter (shops own brand ones) I find there really rich, do a great job for me.
