Agency messing me around

Short and sweet i've attempted to see 8 properties over the last two weeks, got appointment times from agency etc but 6 have used some stupid excuse as to why they can't show it on the day and time they have arranged.
Can't get access
i don't think you will like it
tennant not playing ball

Is this normal? because to be quite honest i'd be furious with my agentt if this was the way they were treating potential tenants!

it's made me realise why i hated using them in the first place although i wish to point out i know all aren't like this.

Do they have offers proceeding on the places you wanted to see? 6 out of 8 is a pretty poor hit rate! Can you stick a note through the door if the vendor lives there?

Vote with your feet, deal with different agents and tell them why you don't want to deal with them any longer. Agents need buyers right now and they should be giving you the red-carpet treatment.

    Hi

    Just to clarify.

Are you trying to buy a property or rent a property?

I'm wanting to rent, anyway i was quite annoyed earlier it's not as if i want some cheapo bedsit either i want to spend 700-800 pcm.
Just seems they really couldn't give a s*it which is strange since there's massive over supply of properties where i live.

Tenants are entitled to quiet enjoyment of their property.

This means that the EA cannot show prospective tenants around unless the existing tenants find it convenient. It sounds like the EA is not checking this out before making arrangments with you.

Agents are rubbish ... I struggled for about 6 weeks to get any viewings on anywhere I phoned up about. People weren't in the office, they'd call me back they said, they didn't, I'd call again, they'd be out, no callback.... eventually I saw something and snapped it up as I'd actually managed to get a viewing.

    Agents are pants.

Bypass LAs - look for a LL who self manages their properties. Try the local Council - some private sector housing depts run accreditation schemes and may have a contact list. Also try your local LL association.

RAS's point is a valid one - many LAs get the current occupants' backs up by their lack of people skills and are then surprised when the Ts dont wnat to help out ovber viewings for potential new Ts.
