Hi, i keep getting phone calls where people put the phone down! But today they actually spoke! It was some woman telling me my bank wanted to pay me 3 grand for bank charges (would be nice!!) she got to the point where she was telling me my old address and when i said i had moved, she asked for my new address, i didn't tell her it but asked why my bank was giving me money, she passed me onto a 'supervisor' who explained they had won a court ruling that banks couldn't charge direct debit fees and all that and they wanted to give me 3 grand, he started to say about me paying for a U voucher (i think!!) at a paypoint and started asking for my new postcode (and kindly telling me he knew all my bank details!). i kept telling him i wouldn't give him it unless he told me how much the U voucher was, at this point he asked if it was a new address, i said yes and he said 'thank you and goodbye' while i called him a conning bar steward before he managed to put the phone down. Now i'm a little confused and just want to know that it was all a con as the company is registered!! Called Barclays and they said they would've contacted me themselves - sorry for the long post but my head hurts!!!

No you are not the only one.
Scam phone calls seem to be a way of life now. The scam entices you with promises (lies) of large amounts. They play to your greed. Once they have you hooked, they normally follow it up with a request for a payment up front to allow them to release the funds to you. if you fall for it, you pay the money and kiss it goodbye and never hear from them again.

My wife has had a couple of phone calls offering £3759 from a company called "Reclaim the right ltd" and they wanted to bring the cash around in person so the banks could save face...
He hung up quick once she asked for websites and addresses - done to research making reference to a "Stephen Hone" who started the web site to reclaim the unfair bank charges! All seems very dodgy to me.. I told her to keep well away and we'd holiday in North Yorkshire this year instead of Florida..0 -

The company making these calls also owns and runs the website, The Consumer Action Group, same name and address a little bit ironic wouldn't you say.0

John it is a scam. Its no different to people who say they are from your bank to get your bank details.
Just because the person on the phone says he is calling from Reclaim the Right Ltd does not mean he actually has anything to do with them.0 -
As the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. No court case would ever rule that Direct Debit fees can't be charged. Whenever you receive a phone call from anyone regarding any aspect of your personal information, just say you'll call them back to know you are definitely speaking to who they say they are. Any legitimate caller will have no issues with that, and will understand security is a priority.0
