Microsoft Autoroute Alternative?

I am looking to replace my Autoroute software and am wondering what the alternatives are and, are they any good?

The AA route planner website is a very good alternative, and free....

You can view and print directions using Google Earth for free. I've just had a look and it looks OK but not as simple as Autoroute.

The only thing with the AA and RAC sites is that you have to put up with the odd advertisement from sponsors like Travelodge, etc.

Other than that they work well and I used them several times before I had SatNav.

Along the lines of other posters here I would suggest you try an online service. I've used the AA site which is excellent and I also use Mapquest

I agree, I used to use mapquest but I tend to use http://www.multimap.com more nowadays.

Many thanks for all your helpful replies. So far, I've only had time to check out the AA website. As far as I can see at the moment, it has the advantage over Autoroute of telling you very clearly in the directions which road (ie number) you are on/need to take!!!
