Private Renting Advice

Hi,
My partner and I are currently renting seperate flats, his private and mine through the council. We are planning to move in together in a few months into a private let but I have bad credit rating.
We are wondering if it's possible to both be named on the tenancy but he goes through the credit check and is the liable person for the tenancy?
Thanks in advance!

Unless you're both relocating I would think very, very hard indeed about giving up a Local Authority tenancy for life.
If your credit-rating is so poor that it would be a handicap you could consider having the tenancy in your partners name only with you included as a "permitted occupant". I can't see how you could be named on the tenancy agreement without going through the credit-checks and being jointly liable. I would be having another very serious thought about what repercussions your poor credit would have on your partner's once you're joined together by the agreement.0
