So i just got an invitation to try out the full version for free and i must say i dont like it. Yes i know i would have to set it up on what it allows to pass and such like but i cant even upload any files without it prompting me then disallowing the file to be upped..
Not good as a full blown thing imo. so ill bin that and go back to the free secondary scanner me thinks.

I'm puzzled by your post; prompting you how? It's not a firewall. I've used it for years without anything like what you've described happening.
The website blocking is just a list of IPs that are sources of malware - sometimes there are false positives if there are a few legit sites also served on the same IP ranges. The website blocking needs more user control, but can just be turned off.
Just yesterday I was cleaning someone's computer, and decided to use the activate the trial version in order to use the realtime guard - good thing I did, as it spotted the trojan trying to reactivate one of the malware components that I'd already manually disabled (but not yet deleted).0 -
It keeps coming up with - suspicious site blocked port8943678975 or whatever. I know its not a malicious site as i use it daily. Its also blocking me getting a torrent or two also - not anything naughty - so whats the point if it keeps doing this? no point in it. Ill stick with avast as me normal AV thanks.one of the famous 50

The realtime protection will be able to block a trojan installing that Avast will miss - that's the point.
You can turn off the website blocking, although even that has proved its usefulness with blocking infected google image searches. If you'd planned on keeping it, it would just be a matter of reporting a false positive for this supposedly legit site you want to upload to.
The torrents still work, it just is blocking some of the individual IPsBest to turn off the notifications if you are going to use P2P software as it'll continually notify about them.

Yeh but not everything will block a trojan anyway and as i scan with Mbam anyway every other day it seems so pointless to actually have it. Especially as ive not had anything infect my computer for bloody years now.
And this is my point - why report false positives - they should know about them anyway. And this is my point, they should know which programmes are out there and what people may be doing with their computers but its being quite intrusive and all i want is something that will sit there and do its job.one of the famous 50 -
Well prevention is better than cleaning; the main part of the Malwarebytes pro is the realtime file guard.
You can turn off the notifications for a peaceful torrent experience, or turn off the website blocking altogether if it's affecting something you use the net for.
As I've said, some IP addresses will be predominantly malware related with only one legit site. Read here for a better explanation of why they block certain IP addresses:

yes but chrome and avast do this anyway should they think a site is malicious. At least they let me get on with things rather then try and impede me.one of the famous 50

You really don't want to hold Avast up as a model for being competent at website blocking - Avast has had some significant false positives that have disabled the web for people over the past few months. It would be ridiculous to rely on Avast for website blocking.
I mean in just one month, Avast managed to release on three occasions bad updates that lead to most websites or most forums to be reported as malicious:

For blocking of actual malware sites I've found ClearCloud finds most of them (but certainly not all), and the rest by Malwarebytes and my HOSTS file (MVPS + MalwaredomainList). I've not seen a single bad site by accident since some time last year.0 -
As i said earlier - with no infections and site warnings from both avast and chrome for years i fail to see what else i should need really. Christ chrome even stopped me on a forum i use cos someone had posted up a malicious link inside the forum - avast done this the other day too.
All of them without them being intrusive. Whilst i hear what your saying, i see no reason for the full version.one of the famous 50 -
Well, a lot of people tell me they've never had an infection and sometimes it even turns out to be true
I'll take your word for it.
Personally I trust Malwarebytes more than I do any antivirus. I bought the full version as a thank you, more than through any need. You definitely can protect a computer adequately with free software, but I would definitely recommend MBAM full to the average user as it'll do a lot more for them than any AV.
What's the site you are trying to upload to out of curiosity?0 -
I have no reason to lie about anything.. It was blocking me uploading to megaupload and also using my torrent client to send anything out so it was having to change ports and everytime it did it stopped it from doing so. not very clever when im trying to get samples over to someone quicklyone of the famous 50
