So it's an imperial meter, as we thought (one unit is 100 cubic feet). 185 units is approx 5,949kWh. At 4p per kWh that would have cost you approx £238. Your consumption Jan-June is still extremely low.
You may find this calculator useful in future:

So what we are paying is cheap (ish) then ? blimey! We have a gas combi boiler and a gas cooker - so i guess we are doing ok

Maybe its just electric that i need to watch

Gas consumption still does sound low, but at least it's more realistic than it was!
Electricity = 52942-52285 = 657kWh. No formula required to convert that.
If you look at your billing, it should show the readings used on the dates covered along with the price being charged. If you are on a standard tariff, then there are definitely cheaper ones out there.
With gas heating and hot water, that will be very seasonal, but electricity tends not to vary so much throughout the year, so taking the last 6 months usage and doubling it won't be that far off your predicted annual usage.
Using my own figures for the last 12 months and the period/usage you have been in your house, I would multiply your electricity kWh by 2.04 to get the annual figure and gas by 1.72.
That would give you an annual kWh usage of 1,337 for electricity and 10,242 for gas.
You could put these into comparison sites and see what they come up with.
