Housing options....

Hi just looking for some advice really...
After my husband lost his job we were forced to move back to my mums as we could not afford the property we were in (we had found somewhere cheaper but it fell through and new tenants had already been found for our house!). We have only been living here 2 months but my mum has had enough already and has said she wants us to leave asap! We cannot find anywhere that will accept our situation as although we both work (my husband full time and myself part time) our earnings combined are not enough for the £650 a month rent a 2 bed property goes for here however it is they work it out (I think it's 2.5 times your monthly income?) and my mum refuses to be guarantor due to previous problems she had with my sister! (she was guarantor before for us but refuses point blank now!). I have explained to her that we cannot get anywhere unless she does this but she still won't have it!!
So my question is what are my options!
Any advice would be gratefully received!!

Perhaps you could get a full time position or a second part time one in order to increase your family income?
Another possibility might be to save some money so that you can offer to pay perhaps three months rent up front?
I don't blame your mum tbh for not wishing to guarantee. If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0 -
I have tried to get a full time job...been applying for a very long time now! With all of them they want alot of flexibility in hours which I cannot commit too (although I would try very hard!) due to childcare etc! Same with part time roles! Although I do apply and go to interviews for but don't get very far! I don't even mention I have a child either! I also am unaware of any places where I would find somewhere that would accept the three months rent in lieu of affordability issues/lack of guarantor...perhaps places like the Friday ad etc??
Would a studio flat accept 2 adults and a child does anyone know? (might be a stop gap until we are in a better
situation!)0 -
What about council housing? In your situation you should be quite a high priority; approach the local housing associations and see what they have to offer. Surely they don't require a deposit?
You can't be expected to live with your mum, you need a place of your own, for your sake and hers.0 -
Serious lack of housing in uk, i have been told in my home town 27 1 bed flats available 2500 chasing, apparrently where i live this is one of the less congested areas for housing applicants.Council housing options manager gave me that news. The lists for council and HA properties are huge and waiting lists are going into years.0

I am on the list but the waiting list here is years so I don't hold much hope on that so I need to find other options. Also because we work we are not very high priority, eventually we will find somewhere which will accept our situation but we need something asap as my mum doesn't want us here anymore!0

There seem to be some good ideas/opportunities to increase income whilst also coping with the need to care for children. If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0 -
If your mother were to go through the process of evicting you, your position on the housing list would move to the top. I do know someone who did this.0

The thing is my mum wouldn't actually throw us on the street, she just wants us put of the house asap!! It's not a nice position to be in really!0
