I am really annoyed, mostly with myself. I ordered a bike from tesco and it was delivered today. I've just looked on the tesco direct website and now it has £20 off, but non in stock, so I can't even order another and return the first one!
I know I should just be glad I've got one but £20 is a lot of money. Any ideas?
Sorry i just had to vent

I dont understand you wanted a bike you got a bike, you could have waited for them to be reduced but then you wouldnt have one.
It could be £100 cheaper but if they dont have any its not an issue.

£20 is actually quite a lot of money for me and as the bike was delivered today and has now gone down in price I am a bit peeved. I may not be able to do anything and yes you are right I do have the bike, but I would also like the £20 off as well.
I know I may not be able to get this but wondered if anyone had any ideas.0 -
they might have reduced the price to get rid of the rest of the stock as it has now been discontinued?0

I'm afraid thats life - once you have purchased something try not to look @ the price again as it is almost guaranteed to fall! The best option you have is to email tesco & say you are a little annoyed, £20 is a lot to you this time of year, say you will return the item (even if you won't) and see what they say, doubt they will care to be honest but worth a try - you never know.:j :j0

i think i heard somewhere that if you pay for something on your credit card and the item reduces shortly after you have bought it, you can claim??? or am i hearing voices again????
anyway best thing to do is ring them and just ask politely if they will reduce it, the worst they can say is no! think about it though, how much would it cost them to send out a driver to collect the item, inspect it then try to sell it, is it worth them not giving you a 20 credit??
all id say is just ask but politely!0 -
happened with me with the sony mp3 player, within a week or so £50 off, store told me they had some in stock, went they said the particular dept was closed so returned old one and went back in the morning for new one 'no we never had any in stock' live and learn, tried it and failed, managed to find it cheaper eventually somewhere else and in the colour i really wanted
head office didnt want to know, even though id said id just return it and buy the new one so why not jus gimme the £50 in vouchers so at least ill spend it with you, nevermindYes Your Dukeiness0 -
The simple test is what would you have been happy with if the price had have gone up by £20? Do you think it would have been fair for Tescos to come after the additional £20 just because the bike was delivered after/during the price change? I am guessing you would be telling me that the contract is made at point of sale when both parties agree to the price. There is no difference here .. you bought it at a price you thought was fair and both parties fulfilled the agreed contract.
There is an old story about someone coming into the shop and asking
"How much is that?"
"£119 sir"
"What, it is only £99 in Bloggs and co. down the road"
"So why did you not buy it from Bloggs and co.?"
"They have none in stock"
"Well when I have none in stock mine will be £99 as well"
Having said the above, you could try contacting them and seeing if they would give you a £20 credit or vouchers or something in lieu of the price change (do they have a price guarante period?). They have absolutely no legal obligation to do anything however they may offer you something as a gesture of good will.
ivanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
