sorry, should of said the concert is on the 28th a Tuesday, which is why its so expensive.

For future reference, with regard to Travelodge, I don't think it's the fact that it's a Tuesday that makes it expensive - rates vary from location to location and day to day, but typically unless there is something special going on, Fridays and Saturdays are most expensive, Sundays are cheapest.

I suspect it is more that you needed to look more in advance - there are only a certain number of rooms at saver rates, and you need to book an absolute minimum of 21 days in advance.

Thanks for this update pOOhsticks. At least we have ideas regarding travelodge's weekly activities. :)
    Late in the room:beer:
  • I'm looking at room rates in London for next month and they seem much more expensive than usual. Even the Premier in in Euston is extortionate. Instead of paying them 150 per night I've opted to stay just 20 mins out of the city by train in the Holiday Inn Express which is across the road from Apsley station (edge of Hemel Hempstead). Trains are extremely frequent and fast into Euston from there and you get a good off peak deal on the railfare including a travelcard. The hotel is half the price too.

Don't discount the Youth Hostels. Some are excellent quality and vfm. hostelbookers and hostelworld websites rate the hostels based on the reviews on their site. Have a look at the recently refurbished YHA St Pancras. Its a decent place with a smart little cafe and well located for Kings Cross and Euston too.
  • I've stayed here a few times:

Very central if coming into Euston. Bedford Place off Russell Square - felt fine walking back alone very late after an event.

Singles: from £64 (Budget room = not en-suite and up three flights of stairs) to £90.

    Quaker-related, so not rowdy!

Youth hostel on Noel Street - off Oxford Street?

Centrally located, very clean and with well equipped kitchen (unlike a travelodge!)

Not en-suite, but does have a bar and a 24/7 reception...
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
