How settlement money from tribunal affect benefit

Options
my solicitor told me that I could get lump sum compensation and settlement payment by employment tribunal , then my job would be redundant soon.
The money is the compensation for what I hurt in job and unfair lose the job as well.
I have suffered job related mental health and sick off from job for more than a year. at the moment, I have ESA.
But if I got the lump sum payment, whether it affect the benefit.

can I use this money to reduce my mortgage level which also help me reduce monthly interest from mortgage or
can i invest my own business , then I ;m self employed which still could have working tax credit if the incoming isn't big enough at first year ?Thank you so much for potential help.

I;m confused now.

I do not understand any of this. Employment tribunals do not deal with compemnsation for injury - so you are definitely not getting any compensation from a tribunal for that.

If your job will be "redundant soon" then I do not understand how you could have lost your job to make a claim to an employment tribunal - and you do not get settlements from employment tribunals, you get awards. No solicitor can tell you that you will get an award unless you have already had your case heard and have won. Since you appear not to have yet lost your job, then you cannot have even made such a claim. I believe that the information you have given cannot be accurate - and that you are counting your chickens before they are hatched.

    Thanks for reply,
In fact ,my case in tribunal since 2010. I fight for potentially be unfair redundancy (since my employer has informed me this point) and discrimination and harassment in job.Recently, it had an JUDICIAL MEDIATION . My solicitor informed me the result of the mediation is that I will get one lump sum payment (much more than redundancy payment )but my job will be redundancy. Although I haven;t see final paper work and document yet, but my solicitor already informed me .he shouldn't speak lie to me.

    so I'm thinking these questions

if I invest this money to do business, if the business grows up, it is a kind of job I created by myself? I wish the goverment will not think that I intentionally to remove the money for benefit purpose since currenly I'm in benefit.my employer stopped my salary for certain period already I.m sick off from job more than a year. I had problem with my employer for more than a year as well.

I don't know whether this kind of compensation settlement payment can be used to invest in business or reduce mortgage payment --that is my question. thanks a lot for potential advice.
