Whilst I'm more than happy to use the threatening letters as toilet paper, I still have concerns should the clowns at Roxburghe start to make calls to my home address (OP refers). Has anyone had direct experience of this and, if so, any advice on how best to counter it?
Thanks again.
Phone calls I would only speak with them once ..tell them the debt is denied and as such they are obliged under OFT guidance to refer the matter back to their client and cease all "enforcement " action. Further calls will be reported to the OFT,Trading Standards and the Police as harassment.
If they call again just ignore them ..
As for personal visits ..I never ever heard of this actually happening as it is a total waste of time and money for them .. but if they did turn up tell them same as above and use what ever language you feel appropriate in telling them to "get off your land" ..if they refuse to leave do not hesitate to call the Police.
Don't forget to mention the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
PS Don't forget to ask them why the OFT are currently "minded to revoke" their license ;-)0 -

You tell them the "debt" is denied, it must be passed back to the PPC and any other calls will be regarded as harassment under the Consumer Credit Act. You can even quote Ferguson V British Gas at them if you like. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
As always people, sound advice. Cannot thank you enough.
Incidentally, any updates on indications that the OFT are 'minded' to revoke Roxburghe's licence? Given the speed with which such things usually progress, I suspect it may be some time before the axe eventually falls (if at all).0 -

It will move slowly I think but is great news and a recent thing - shows that complaints to the OfT can work. See the CAG thread on it:

HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Lets hope the "minded to revoke" is not just going to be a slap on the wrist. Roxbourgh, must have thousands of complaints against them. Mostly for their other debt collection practices. Adding parking charge collection where the debt is not even due to their crimes should see them lose their licence.
Lets hope the OFT see them for what they are and do revoke. Sadly all this will do is move the problem to another company.0
