Any idea if the rice can be scented so that I can can repeat my shop bought lavendar scented one in rice and socks? :rotfl:

Never tried this as I am allergic to lavender (which would be the main choice as it helps to aid sleep) but I can't see why you couldn't add a few drops of your favourite essential oil.

hehehehe. I'd forgotten all about that old thread LOL

I really wouldn't bother replacing tea towels with nice new ones. Providing they are clean (even if they don't always look it) I'd keep them. My tea towls are over 20 years old and still doing good service. IMO they are a functional tool not a decorative item:confused: I think there is something appealing about things that look as if they have been well used.

when my tea towels go in holes i use them to buff the windows when i finish cleaning them it used to be old boxer pants but stopped using them after one of daughters b/f got handed a pair to clean his shoes the look on his face said it all.

I agree with you MATH about they're clean, so why not continue using them as they were meant to, but the looks I get of MIL say it all. Actually she then went as far as buying us a new pack and bringing them round without warning :o

I can see DH's face now if I handed him an old pair of his boxers to polish his car with! :rotfl: Does it work as well with a thong do you think?

Just a quick thanks. I've made my first rice heater bag thingy, scented it with Lavendar. Yum.... it worked really well. :T

Only two more to make before I go away Friday night

Any more funky ideas out there for socks, tea towels and tops? :money:

So hang those in a prominent place for decoration, and then stick a couple of hooks on the inside of a cupboard door for the old ones, and make everyone use the old ones on pain of severe punishment, unless the MIL is in the house at the time.

Or just not bother using teatowels - it's far more hygienic to let the dishes drain.
  • My mum used to polish the wood table and then get us kids to put on old socks and dance/skate across the table to buff it up. It was great fun and none of us ever fell off! :)
