Hi Alll!

I've bought a Belkin surge protector for computer & stuff, but to connect the fone & modem to it, I've obviously got to get a cable to the protector, from wall socket.

Is this the correct one please??

Also am i better off just leaving fone direct into the wall socket, instead of the piggy back conector, I'll need in the protector?

Thanks in advance

VB

The less things you have on the phone line the higher speed you will get so plug the broadband filter straight into the primary BT socket then plug the router straight into that. If it were to be hit by a surge which is highly unlikely then replace the router. You can connect the phone through the surge protector if you wish but with the price of phones these days it's worth just leaving it. It's a cost/benefit analysis that you need to make. I'd go for the higher speed myself rather than protecting the router. Try both you may not lose much speed.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

No.. that's almost certainly not the right cable.

That is a (disgustingly overpriced) bog-standard RJ45 ethernet cable for connecting the PC to a router.

Argos is charging an astonishing £5.99 for a cable that costs £1 in Poundland and much less elsewhere (e.g. 16p on ebay)...

Inside the BT master socket, there is already a high voltage surge suppressor...

As for connecting the Belkin surge protector to the phone connection of the Router, you will need either an RJ11-RJ11 cable or an RJ11 to a BT plug cable.. Which cable you need is dictated by the socket on the Belkin surge protector. Both of those cables should cost £1 or less.
