Well I'm already in training for a position in my company that would put me up to £15k a year, so that will be helpful I guess!

Also, I'm not looking at buying immediately. I'd like to get my deposit up to 20k before I start seriously looking. So maybe another 4 years?

    And yes - I am Scottish :P

Thank you again for all your help, however, princeofpounds, your post was especially helpful!

    Good stuff.

By the way, final point I forgot to mention - remember that the incidental costs of purchase (survey, moving costs, solicitors) can all add up so you need a good float on top of your deposit.

With the new position you will be getting closer. Keep trying to improve your position and salary and a purchase as you outline here should be quite achievable after some time.

Oh, and also make sure you keep your savings in the optimum place so that they don't get eroded by inflation too much.
