I totally recommend anyone living in West London or Heathrow area should use Berkeley MOT Service.

Privately owned but almost unique in that they do NOT do repairs but simply MOT test the vehicle. If it passes, great, if not you'll get a list of repairs to make and then bring the car back within 14 days for a free retest.

This makes it a pure risk free MOT as they have no incentive to over-egg any problems.

Plus they the nicest most geniune people you'll meet. And you get to play with their dog and drink free tea/coffee while you wait.

Fantastic for these guys.

I've been looking for someone who does this for a while - I believe MOT's being done in Garages or repair centres is wrong. e.g. I believe it is fair to say that a repair centre that repairs Tyres, Exhausts, Brakes etc will have an increased number of MOT failures in the areas of tyres, exhausts or brakes - Coincidence? I do not think so!! It's one of these things that gets right up my nose - but it's only my opinion.

I want this option close to me (central scotland) - anyone got any recommendations?

I agree with the point you are making about places that just do mots,years ago i used to go to the local bus depot.

I would like to point out that if you are having a service at the same time as an mot,the cost of the mot is often much less.

I have used one garage for many years,to mot and service an old mini that we own,it passed the mot first time six years on the run,and the bills were very reasonable .Not everyone wants to rip you off.I always advise finding a good garage and staying with them.

i had a service in VW in September, Rear brakes were at 40% worn , went to Kwik-Fit beginnning of october for an MOT and amazingly my rear brakes were down to 80% worn.

Amazing eh?
