Simple question

Hello everyone - first time poster here...

I lost my wallet and have been the victim of identity fraud. My rent was due on the 1st June but because of a lack of funds the standing order didn't go out.

I'm still getting things sorted with my bank and while I'm not sure how long it's going to take I will have alternative funds on the 20th June, and the first thing I intend to do is pay the rent.

However the rental company are getting very shirty with me - I've told them that it's beyond my control and they will get their money on the 20th.

Is there anything they can do at all? I suspect not but would just like some reassurance.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

WRITE to the agents explaining the remedy which you have already given them on the phone and apologise for the late payment. They can get as shirty as they like but if you won't have the funds until the 20th there's no magic wand which can suddenly make them available before then.

As Bitter says, write. But I'd add that the only actions the LL or his agent could do are
    1) start eviction proceedings. There are different processes/timescales etc involved depending if you have a fixed term or periodic tenancy, but EITHER way it will take till WAY beyond the 20th so they would be mad to start.
    2) make a mental note not to renew your tenancy when it expires, but again they'd be pretty stupid to do this.
