Rangemaster Cookers - what is their lifespan?

I'm currently buying a house and am being offered a rangemaster cooker as an extra.
I know for a fact that the current owners bought it off the previous owners, and that they have lived at the property for 7 years, so the cooker is probably at least 8 years old...
My question is, how long would you expect these things to last? Would i get another 5 years out of it, or is it on its last legs?!
Thanks

It depends on the model & how its looked after & what fuel it uses. Not Again0

We have just bought a new one priced just under £2k. If I were you I would be looking for similar that have sold on EBay and then making an offer just below that (assuming I wanted it).0

My neighbour has had their Rangemaster (Classic) for nearly 17 years and have never had a problem with it. The first Rangemaster I ever sold is going strong after 9 years. In 9 years of dealing with Rangemaster, I can honestly say I've only had a handfull of problem Rangemasters. One of those handfull was one I sold around 6 years ago and I'm pretty sure they've had Rangemaster out every six months to fix "something different"
Saying that, I had someone on the phone yesterday who bought one 5 months ago and it looks like the warming section is shot!
So how long will a Rangemaster last? Well, that all depends, but I would be dissapointed if they had a life-span of less than 10 years...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I recently replaced one that must have been 20+
It has "noah woz ere" written on the back0 -
Thanks for the responses guys - very useful!
I suppose my next question is, are the rangemasters better than the other brands that are roughly half the price (Belling/Cookmaster etc)? Or is it like Heinz vs Aldi baked beans - same factory but different brand?!0 -
They only make Rangemasters as far as I know. They are UK made (Leamington Spa) and are owned by AGA. You probably do pay a bit for the name like any top brand in the market. Good quality and longevity in my experience though, had one for 13 years and still going strong.0

Do Kellogs make baked beans?0

my parents have had one for 17yrs and with 4 kids growing up it took some stick.
its still going strong although now its got a few dings and dents but works perfect, i just bought one and although it cost 1.2k it is worth it as i know i will never buy another cooker again.0 -

No, completely different.
Rangemaster don't make for anyone else (well, apart from the sister brands such as Leisure)
There is a BIG difference in quality between Rangemaster and the likes of Belling...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
