I can't see how a number that translates mainly into gibberish with a short word somewhere in it can be worth anything. On the other hand if the numbers themselves are memorable or the entire number after the code made a complete word that could be valuable.

Or am I missing something?

No numbers as you say with a short word in it and the rest means nowt are not valuable.Unless eg you had say 07xx2472227 which spells 07xx 247 Cabs,or say 07xx36574992 07xx 365 Pizza, or even 07xx2663007
07xx Bond 007.

Even numbers that spell something incorporating the dialing code letters and the rest of the number may be worth something .I have seen 07xx 2432737 being promoted 07xx Cheaper.

The 02 diallling code 07999 might be popular if you run an emergency service?

Having said all that Alpha Dialling/Vanity Numbers have not taken off here as they have done in States.
