I foolishly, from a prompt, downloaded IE9 but found I'd lost the Favorites bar that goes across the top but don't know how to uninstall IE9 to reinstall the previous edition I had.
Is this possible and how would I go about it please?

yup you were, but it beats me the amount of questions on here can be answered/solved in seconds if people just use google

Right click on empty space next to ‘new tab’ button. Then click ‘favorites bar’ option to display favorites toolbar at the top of IE9. Click ‘status bar’ option to display status bar at the bottom of IE9 window.

I've just downloaded IE9 and have experienced very few problems with it.

You can still display 'Favourites' at the left of the screen.

At right-hand top of screen, click on star symbol (between home and tools), then click green arrow at top left of Favourites list.
