Vaillant turbomax boiler

Hi - I moved into a newish flat several months ago. I got the 14 year old boiler serviced, & the young engineer failed the appliance because of the flue termination layout. The pipe comes out the top of the boiler curves to the right, straight down again & then right again out of the flat to a flue outlet (a bit like a straighter u bend).
I can guess what has happened, this is a top floor flat, & they didn't leave enough room to layout the outlet at a straight angle. If they did this the outlet would go into a balcony off the roof.

The boiler works fine, I have a carbon monoxide alarm next to it & good ventilation.
Should I be worried, does anyone have any ideas how I could rectify the situation?

Thanks

Can't see why it should be a problem on any non-condensing boiler to have a flue arrangement such as this, as long as the length of the flue is within manufacturers fitting instructions.

From what you have posted he shouldn't have 'failed it'.

Maybe you need to go along to the Vaillant website, download the installation instructions for your boiler and check that the flue arrangement agrees with that stated in the booklet?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

It's a fanned flue and non-condensing so I don't see a problem. It's unusual and I would question it but I don't think i'd fail it. It would only be NCS (not to current standards) anyway.

    Thanks for the advice.
I now have an error code F29 on the display after the service, I reignited & it came back on, but will it lock me out after a few attempts & I have to call someone else in? I rand EDF & they confirmed there is gas to the property so can't think what else it could be?

Either the burner pressure setting (low) is too low, or the flame sensing electrode needs adjusting.

The manufacturers minimum burner setting should be ignored on these and set about 0.5mbar higher.

Both the above are RGI jobs, but should have been sorted with the service.

I wouldn't expect you to have to pay again, assuming this is the fault.

Can you post a pic of the flue arrangement?
