            Aren't Abbey wonderful?!!!
Went in to local branch this morning to open new FRMS. They refused to do so because staff absence meant they didn't have enough people to go through the process!
I'd waited 15 minutes behind a couple at the Welcome desk who were discussing how to repay a loan (not much about client confidentiality there) and was told by the person at the Welcome desk that, though he was technically competent to do so, he wouldn't open the account because he had to deal with other people in the queue and it would take TWENTY MINUTES to open the account using his computer.
I told him I didn't believe it would take that long. If it does, Abbey need to train their staff or change their systems.0 -
Yep, that's about the size of it. Last Abbey account I set up, in person as existing customer, 35 mins. Last Britannia, as lapsed customer, 25 mins. Incredible! if it wasn't for the identifying documentation, I wouldn't bother going in person.0

If you don't already have an Ipswich BS Target Saver 2 account, paying 7.25%, then this might be one to consider if Abbey are letting you down. Ipswich are really quick in opening accounts and it can all be done by post. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
            Thanks, Kazza.
Ipswich are on my list to try - I'm opening a number of Regular Savers for the better rates.
Would have opened the Abbey account by post if it weren't for the bother of the ID requirements. As you will know, some institutions are easier to deal with than others on the ID front.0
