How to Set Up Broadband Connection?

Does anyone know of a website that shows how to set up a broadband connection? I will finally be forced to join the 21st century because Supanet have stopped supplying dialup - they didn't give notice, just disconnected it. I managed to set up a pay as you go dial up ISP but will have to get broadband. My computer is in the spare room and has a long extension cord from the hallway, so I need to know how the wires and things will connect.

Ok, when you get broadband you will almost certainly be provided with a modem/router by your ISP and a set-up disk. The ISP's website will also have detailed instructions in the FAQs. If you run into difficulty their Tech Support will talk you through it over the phone.
Failing that, ask on here when you know the specifics of your ISP and the kit you get.604!0 -
Hi csnann,
You will likely be supplied with a piece of equipment called a "Router" that the telephone line plugs into. You then plug another lead called a network cable into the router and this plugs into the back of your PC/Laptop. Both of these usually come when they send you out the router. With the new broadband you will be able to use the phone at the same time as you are connected to the internet. Good luck!If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!0 -
This is a big topic and you're not going to get comprehensive answers on a forum. You should set aside a little time for research: I suggest you start here.0
