British Gas Problem

Can anybody help me, I have changed my Tariff with BG and thats gone ok, but they are charging me for what debit we have before they change it. I called them and asked could they add iti to the bill again but they say it has been sent to the bank. Is there anyway of stopping this as i dont want to go over my limit for no reason. I got the email saying it would take 14 days so why can they not stop it??
