Parking at Alton Towers

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's worth paying the extra money for parking closer to the park, not sure what it's called, express or something? Last time we went it took us an hour to get out of the car park! We have the Sun tickets so would consider paying the extra this time. I was disgusted last time that you had to pay anything for parking!!!!
Thanks for any advice.

I have never paid for the express parking but have never had any problem with the regular parking. We always manage to get out in about 10 minutes.

try going to Florida ... a fortune for the tickets ( we were over £200 each) then £10 a day for the pleasure of parking your car ...

i have never had to wait an hour to get out of the park or even in the park at Alton towers ... i would park at the cheaper parking and if the park looks busy maybe leave that half hour early to get out ... it's up to you ofcourse

Can you purchase online or on the day for priority? some of my family are going to AT live and need a quick get away after the concert so priority would be ideal.

Cant see anywhere to book online, the priority parking is sign posted just as you enter the AT grounds, and is also close to the park entrance, so you would be back at your car while most people are waiting for the monorail or walking to the main car park. The disadvantage is that you have to merge with cars leaving the main car park, albeit nearer the exit.

Have a look HERE if you zoom in the prority parking area is to the left of the park entrance/monorail station.

I've done Florida 7 times now....there's no comparison in any shape or form to Alton Towers!!!!! If you paid £200 each for a day then you were ripped off BIG time!!!!

Not keen on leaving the park early as it's only open til 5.30 Guess we'll just pay it to enjoy that extra ride!

They paid £10 per day parking. £200 would be pp for the whole two weeks for park entry. So could equal as little as £14 per day park entry.

Never understood why they would charge for parking though. Not like they are near a shopping centre or train station.

Yes I agree about the parking, but compared to Alton Towers and Drayton Manor, I've always thought what really good value Florida Parks are.

I've just got back from a very tiring day at alton towers today! (Rita 5 times, Nemisis 4 times etc etc!!) Got there early and parked right next to the monorail station and left at 5.30 and drove straight out!! Wouldnt bother with the prority parking if you are going outside the school holidays, in the busy times ......dunno!! :D

I wouldnt bother with express parking full stop, completely pointless paying an extra £10 just to park right next to the entrance. Not at all worth the money, £6 is plenty and you'll only queue excessively to get out of the carpark on really busy days.
In response to the poster who mentioned AT live, I wouldnt expect anyone stands much chance of a quick getaway after the show finishes, I think the whole of the usual express parking area is being designated for disabled guests. xxx
