Hi,
Well I was in London Friday for a gig and tried to pay for lunch on my card and the machine said RETAIN CARD! Luckily I had ID on my so I could get it back, and then tried to withdraw cash and the ATM swallowed my card! And very kindly my freind had to lend me money, but I started panicking!!! Although I managed to pay for my travelcard in the morning.
Now I received a letter saying they are freezing my account and I must go into the nearest branch with proof of ID and a recoginsed form of address verification.
Anyone ever heard of this before? It also goes on to say if I don't supply this information within 60 days they may close my account, well what about my money?
Do you think because I was in London and this is not usual for me, they suspected card fraud?

This is Halifax and I have been with them for about 5 years now, its a basic bank account.
I have spoken to them over the phone and they have just said that I need to go to the branch and then show ID and the clerk will phone a number to un-freeze the account.[STRIKE]£9,336[/STRIKE] Current Debt: £8,635

Strange you been with them for 5 years and now this happened? hmmm maybe someone was trying to access your account via online banking?
(who knows)
ya shouldn't worry to much you are the rightful owner with proof just go to the branch and explain,
