Towing a caravan to Scotland - cheap fuel near Motorway?
Is there such a thing as a website or even a book I could get that lists where petrol stations are near to motorway junctions.
We will be driving from North West to Isle of Skye then across to Stirling and back home. We know we will need to fill up with fuel at least once if not twice on our journey up, guess somewhere around the Carlisle/Penrith area and then again further north and am trying to find out where there are petrol stations that are accessible to a towing caravan and not too far from the motorway junctions.

Try "Petrol Prices" in your favourite search engine - hey presto a list of fuel stations by postal region and their prices.0

Just google for one of the big supermarket chains on route.
Lots of retail parks are near motorways and almost all have at least one big supermarket with a petrol station and cheap(ish) fuel.0 -
Tesco is just off the M6 at Carlisle J43
After that there's supermarkets in the glasgow area, I have used the morrisons at hamilton many many times. North of that the next resonably priced fuel is morrisons in Fort William
(Hamilton will be cheaper than Fort Will.)0 -
As above or a good sat nav usually shows them and you can navigate to closest once you start getting low.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Tesco do a wee book of all their stores, and indicates which have fuel
There's also a simmillar thing listing morrisons fuel stations, don't think it was offical though
Supermarkets are usually the cheapest but not always0 -
There is a shell pretty much on the border, northbound on the M6 just before it turns into the A74(M) which is actually on the motorway and its usually very cheap. Its between Carlisle and Gretna. Southbound on the other side its a BP IIRC and is loads more expensive.
I usually ask my satnav to take me to the nearest asda, or failing that just come off at the next junction and drive for a few mins until I find somewhere cheap. Less easy with a caravan though.0 -
There is a Sainsburys very near the next junction of the M9 north of Stirling Services.0

Yeh asdas usually aren't very suitable for large trailers etc.
I was once stuck and had to use an asda, with a trailer on, filled up, walked to the drive-thru booth, then did a 12 point turn dodging the other vehicles on the forecourt to leave via the entrance :rotfl:0 -

That's the one we always use coming back up north.0 -
